Most people I know dream of a life where they can work for themselves, set their own hours, do what they love and make good money doing it. And of course those same people believe that they can achieve this through starting their own business. If you structure things right, you can have all of the above and more. You can even work less than you did when you worked for someone else and make more. However, it’s not automatic. You can have this by setting up smart systems and processes, leading by example and the right mindset. The focus of this article will be on the mindset aspect.
What are the mindset traits of a successful entrepreneur and do you have what it takes?

As an online marketer, you should strive to deliver value to readers on your blog, on social networks, via your email newsletter and more. I once heard a successful Catalog Marketing Executive say, “It’s the start that stops most people”, which meant a lot to me when I first it. I totally agreed and understood what she meant because I was in the same business. And boy was I on a roll! I was way past the start and heading fast for the finish line that I had painted for myself, my worthy goal, my achievement.

1)
Use Affirmations Affirmations are positive declarations we make that are in the present tense and in the affirmative. For instance, “I am so happy and grateful now that I have total financial freedom” as opposed to “This year I am going to get out of debt”. See the difference? Affirmations are powerful because they trick the mind into believing that you have already achieved the goal and that you are very capable of achieving your goal. When repeated, according to the law of attraction, you subconsciously create the circumstances to help you achieve your goal. You will then attract people and opportunities that can help you get from where you are to where you truly believe you can be.
2) Develop an attitude of gratitude In every situation, there is always something to be thankful for. By appreciating the good you have in your life now, you open up yourself to even greater gifts to come. Dating back to several years ago, Oprah suggested that we keep a gratitude journal by recording at least 3 things you are grateful for every night. Today, we hear the same principle in movies like ‘The Secret’ as well as in books and articles on the subject. Recording the things you are grateful for each night forces you to look for the good in situations during the day. This opens your eyes to realize that your life may be full of too many blessings to count.

Scary right? Where did the year go? Like a lot of you, I made some lofty New Year’s resolutions last year. Many of them have fallen by the way side. But I am a believer that it’s not over until it’s over. I can still accomplish some of my goals or at least make some good headway on them. I resolve! I decide to finish the year 2009 strong! How about you?
When I made this decision, in September I had in mind a post by Seth Godin that really inspires me in a situation like this. It’s called, “Sprint”. The idea is that sometimes, you have to sprint in order to ‘overcome your fear of creativity, brainstorming, intelligent risk taking or navigating a tricky situation’. I expand on that to apply to my situation that in order to overcome your tendency to procrastinate or get over your feeling of being stuck, you have to go on a sprint.
