What to do when you need to grow your email list? Here’s 14 Ideas

1) Email signature Place your website or blog in your email signature with a call to action. Turbo charge this method by offering a free e-book or report with a link to your opt-in or squeeze page.

2) Business cards Put your opt-in page website address on your business cards promoting the benefit of your free e-book or report or your results-oriented 3 line bio. You can get free business cards from vistaprint.com

3) Social Media Profiles Include your opt-in page in your social media profiles.

4) The more you give, the more you get Provide your website or blog visitors with free e-books, reports or mini-courses, podcasts and videos. Give valuable, pertinent and on topic content. Your subscriber list will organically increase as a result.

5) Shed the Expert Jacket Be conversational in your blog posts and social media updates. Encourage interactivity.

6) Forward to a friend Ask your existing subscribers to forward your emails to others who may be interested in your niche.

7) Speaking engagements If you do speaking engagements, collect business cards by having a raffle for a book or other free gift. Alternatively, include a link to your optin page on your last slide. Promote an opt-in page that has a free report that would interest the market at the speaking engagement.

8) Content, Content, Content Provide value in your content on your blog, website, ezine or published articles. Do not hold back. Provide as much information as you would like to receive if you were researching an area or topic. Write as if you are advising a friend on a course of action to take.

9) Use a simple sign up form Ask for your subscriber’s first name and email address. You do not need anything else unless you are sending them a freebie in the mail. People get turned off from opting in if you ask for too much information.

10) Article marketing Submit articles to article directories and place a link to your squeeze or opt in page or your website or blog. If you have a squeeze or opt in page, this is the only link you should place in your article resource box though.

11) Have a free TeleClass A teleclass is a phone call using bridge lines usually about a topic related to your niche. You can invite a guest speaker or you can give the class yourself. Promote the TeleClass on a squeeze or optin page, promote via social media and your existing list. Your guest speaker can also promote the TeleClass to their list and social media community.

12) Video marketing Start a YouTube channel and make short videos with tips related to your niche. You can make a video of yourself giving a tip of the week or something or you can use a screen capture tool and record a slide show with audio with tips in your niche.

13) Blog marketing Start a blog and update it regularly. Start off with daily for at least a month and then switch to 3 times a week. Repurpose articles you submit to article directories, transcripts from teleclasses or Private Label Rights content and use them as blog posts.

14) Testing, Testing, 1-2-3 Try different opt in pages. Try an opt in page with video, audio or just text. Try different offers. Try an opt in page that offers a free e-book, or mini-course or free report or several bonus items or even videos.

  1. Stephanie – You didn’t leave a single stone unturned. Thanks for sharing. In response to #9, I quickly hit the back button if the sign-up form is asking for too much required info. It’s ok if you’re given an option to add more, but I agree name and email should be enough.

  2. @Donna Glad you liked these ideas. Also important to note is to go with the methods that are fun for you and in your comfort zone. Also, think of what attracts you to join someone else’s list. Chances are that list-building method will work best for you to build your list.
