I have fallen in love with WordPress and the affair has only just begun! Honestly, my foray into blogging started a few months ago with a free Blogspot account. I finally gave WordPress.org a try maybe two months ago and I am hooked. Building and learning as I go, I realize that there are many tools, rather plugins available to help your WordPress blog really work for you. So here are my top picks so far.
1. Michael Torbert’s All In One SEO Pack This plugin optimizes your blog for the search engine to the nth degree. Brings organic traffic to your blog site based on your keywords. Just download and install. Let the plugin do the rest.
2. Google XML Sitemaps This Google compliant plugin creates XML sitemaps for your blog and updates them when you write a new post. An XML Sitemap enables the search engine crawlers to find out what pages your site has and which has changed recently.
3. Twitter tools This tool integrates your blog with twitter, sending out updates when you publish a new post. Can also publish your twitter activity on your blog. A great twitter automation tool to keep your followers engaged and up to date.
4. Yet Another Related Post Plugin As the name suggests, this tool lists related blog posts to each one published at the end of the post. Helps to make your blog sticky and encourage readers to stay on your blog longer.
5. SexyBookmarks This one is cute I think. Basically it puts sharing buttons in a nice graphic interface to encourage your readers to share your posts on various social and bookmarking networks.
6. WP-Spamfree A powerful anti-spam plugin that eliminates comment spamming. If you have had a blog for any period of time, you’ll notice these spammers are relentless. I just installed this one and am looking forward to seeing it work.
